About

A mathematics teacher who never stopped asking why.

I’m David Wees. For more than two decades I have taught mathematics, designed curricula, and worked alongside teachers in classrooms across British Columbia, New York City, and now Hong Kong.

My work focuses on a simple question: what would it take for every student to be treated as a sense‑maker? The answer, I’ve found, lives in the daily details — the tasks we choose, the routines we follow, and the way we listen.

I’ve designed curricula for school districts, led professional development for the New Visions for Public Schools network in New York, presented at NCTM and international conferences, and written for NCTM, MindShift/KQED, and on my own blog, The Reflective Educator.
